Celebrating Guaraní Language Day at ASA!

Every year on August 25, Paraguay celebrates Guaraní Language Day to honor the 1967 National Constitution, which first granted legal recognition to Guaraní as a national language. To mark this special occasion, our 10th-grade students brought Paraguayan culture to life across campus with the dynamic “Ñe’ẽ Guaraní” – Guaraní Challenge 2026!

The project engaged the entire school community in discovering, learning, and speaking Guaraní across various tasks: Tongue Twisters (Trabalenguas), Classic Sayings (Refranes), Key Words & Phrases and Surprise Challenges.

A Note from Mrs. Ida Avila:

"The 'Ñañe’ẽ Guaraníme' project was designed to celebrate Guaraní Language Day in a dynamic and participatory way. The goal was to bring our language closer to the entire educational community—giving students an active role in sharing what they’ve learned and encouraging others to speak Guaraní. It was a deeply meaningful experience because it took Guaraní beyond the classroom walls and shared it with everyone."

This fast-paced initiative encouraged everyone to lose the fear of speaking, value our native language, and embrace local traditions through connection and play.

By sharing our culture with enthusiasm, our students actively put ASA’s core values—Respect, Empathy, Integrity, and Excellence—into action.

A special shout-out and kudos to our Guaraní teacher, Ida Avila, who championed this incredible project! A massive thank you as well to all the teachers and students who jumped in, tested their skills, and picked up fun new phrases along the way.

Cada año, el 25 de agosto, el Paraguay celebra el Día de la Lengua Guaraní en honor a la Constitución Nacional de 1967, la cual otorgó por primera vez reconocimiento legal al guaraní como idioma nacional. Para conmemorar esta fecha tan especial, nuestros estudiantes de 10º grado llenaron de vida la cultura paraguaya en todo el campus con el dinámico “Ñe’ẽ Guaraní” – ¡Desafío Guaraní 2026!

El proyecto involucró a toda la comunidad educativa a descubrir, aprender y hablar guaraní a través de diversas consignas: Trabalenguas, Refranes clásicos, Palabras y frases clave y Desafíos sorpresa.

Una nota de la Prof. Ida Ávila:

"El proyecto 'Ñañe’ẽ Guaraníme' fue diseñado para celebrar el Día de la Lengua Guaraní de una manera dinámica y participativa. El objetivo era acercar nuestra lengua a toda la comunidad educativa, dando a los estudiantes un papel activo en compartir lo aprendido y animando a otros a hablar guaraní. Fue una experiencia profundamente significativa porque llevó el guaraní más allá de las paredes del aula y lo compartió con todos".

Esta iniciativa dinámica animó a todos a perder el miedo a hablar, valorar nuestra lengua materna y abrazar las tradiciones locales a través de la conexión y el juego.

Al compartir nuestra cultura con tanto entusiasmo, nuestros estudiantes pusieron en práctica los valores fundamentales del ASA: Respeto, Empatía, Integridad y Excelencia.

¡Un reconocimiento y felicitaciones especiales a nuestra profesora de Guaraní, Ida Avila, quien lideró este increíble proyecto! Un enorme agradecimiento también a todos los docentes y alumnos que se sumaron, pusieron a prueba sus habilidades y aprendieron frases nuevas y divertidas a lo largo de la jornada.
