Building a Better World: ASA Students in Action with Operación Sonrisa
At ASA, education goes far beyond the classroom. By stepping out into the community, our students actively learn how empathy, teamwork, and service transform lives. This semester, ASA students demonstrated how they are preparing to make the world a better place through their involvement with Operación Sonrisa during two meaningful initiatives: the Children’s Day Celebration and the International Surgical Program.
Through these hands-on opportunities, our volunteers provided essential operational support, brought joy to young patients, and saw firsthand how small, compassionate actions build a healthier, more inclusive society.
By engaging in community service of this kind, ASA students develop the social responsibility, leadership, and emotional intelligence needed to become global changemakers.

International Surgical Program
"My experience was incredible. I loved the sense of family and cooperation across our different tasks. You could tell we all shared the same goal, turning community service into genuine teamwork. Being able to see the children, even from a distance, was a huge motivator that pushed me to give 100% and keep a smile on my face. "During my day as a volunteer, I helped in the kitchen, played with the kids, did inventory, cleaned, and changed bed linens. I tried to do everything possible to help and make the children feel happy. Children’s Day Celebration
"From the moment we arrived, I loved being able to share time with the boys and girls to celebrate Children's Day. We played games, painted, and set up the rooms so everything was ready for them. What I enjoyed most was spending time with them, chatting, and watching them have fun. It made me feel great to share a bit of my time, and I left with beautiful memories." — Giulietta Felippo

En el ASA, la educación va mucho más allá del aula. Al salir a la comunidad, nuestros estudiantes aprenden de forma activa cómo la empatía, el trabajo en equipo y el servicio transforman vidas. Este semestre, los alumnos del ASA demostraron cómo se están preparando para hacer del mundo un lugar mejor a través de su participación con Operación Sonrisa en dos valiosas iniciativas: el Festejo del Día del Niño y el Programa Quirúrgico Internacional.
A través de estas experiencias prácticas, nuestros voluntarios brindaron un apoyo operativo fundamental, llevaron alegría a jóvenes pacientes y comprobaron de primera mano cómo las pequeñas acciones compasivas construyen una sociedad más saludable e inclusiva.
Al involucrarse en este tipo de servicio comunitario, los estudiantes del ASA desarrollan la responsabilidad social, el liderazgo y la inteligencia emocional necesarias para convertirse en agentes de cambio global.

"Mi experiencia fue increíble. Me encantó bastante la familiaridad y la cooperación que se dio en nuestras diferentes tareas. Se notaba que todos íbamos por un mismo objetivo, lo que volvió este servicio comunitario en un verdadero trabajo de equipo. Poder ver a los niños, así sea de lejos, era un gran motivador que me impulsó a dar el 100% y mostrar siempre una sonrisa. Fue una experiencia muy tranquila pero igualmente recompensante, y la repetiría sin dudarlo." — Mateo Pendola

Festejo del Día del Niño
"Desde el momento en que llegamos, me gustó mucho poder compartir con los niños y las niñas para celebrar el Día del Niño. Jugamos, pintamos y preparamos las salas para que todo estuviera listo. Lo que más disfruté fue pasar tiempo con ellos, conversar y verlos divertirse. Me hizo sentir muy bien poder compartir un poco de mi tiempo y me quedo con lindos recuerdos." — Giulietta Felippo
