7th Grade: History and Heritage in Encarnación

Our 7th graders traveled south to Encarnación and the Jesuit Missions for three days of learning about Paraguay's history. The trip began at the San Ignacio Guazú museum, followed by the reductions and planetarium at Santos Cosme y Damián. The next day, students visited the Ruins of Trinidad, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Jesús de Tavarangue, where they saw firsthand the scale and architecture of the Jesuit reductions they had learned about.

The trip also connected history to Paraguay's present. Students toured Yerba Mate Selecta to see how one of the country's most iconic products is made, and they visited the Yacyretá Dam, one of the largest hydroelectric projects in the region. Evenings at the AWA Hotel, including sports, games, and a movie night, gave the group time to relax and enjoy each other's company. By the time they returned home, students had seen centuries of Paraguayan history up close.

Nuestros alumnos de 7º grado viajaron al sur, a Encarnación y las Misiones Jesuíticas, para vivir tres días de aprendizaje sobre la historia del Paraguay. El viaje comenzó en el museo de San Ignacio Guazú, seguido por una visita a las reducciones y el planetario de San Cosme y Damián. Al día siguiente, los estudiantes recorrieron las Ruinas de Trinidad, Patrimonio Mundial de la UNESCO, y Jesús de Tavarangue, donde apreciaron de primera mano la escala y la arquitectura de las reducciones jesuíticas sobre las que habían estudiado.

La excursión también conectó la historia con el presente del país. Los alumnos recorrieron la fábrica de Yerba Mate Selecta para ver cómo se elabora uno de los productos más icónicos del Paraguay y visitaron la Represa de Yacyretá, uno de los proyectos hidroeléctricos más grandes de la región. Las noches en el Hotel AWA, con deportes, juegos y una noche de película, brindaron al grupo el espacio ideal para relajarse y disfrutar juntos. Al regresar a casa, los estudiantes habían presenciado de cerca siglos de historia paraguaya.
