6th Grade: Building Our Team at Alta Gracia
Our 6th graders began their Classrooms Without Walls experience with two days at the Alta Gracia Hotel, where ASA had the entire property to itself. The trip was designed around one goal: helping our new middle school class come together as a team. To lead that work, we partnered with Arapacha, an organization that specializes in team building, collaboration, and positive problem-solving.
Across both days, students rotated through Arapacha's hands-on challenges, which asked them to communicate clearly, listen to one another, and work through problems together. The second day focused on problem-solving and leadership, giving students a chance to step up and support their classmates. Between activities, students shared meals and free time as a grade, building the friendships and trust that will carry them through the year. Teachers, counselors, and administrators were with them throughout, and the students returned to ASA with a stronger sense of what it means to be part of the 6th grade class.
Nuestros estudiantes de 6º grado comenzaron su experiencia de Aulas Sin Paredes (Classrooms Without Walls) con dos días en el Hotel Alta Gracia, donde el ASA tuvo la propiedad entera a su disposición. El viaje fue diseñado con un solo objetivo: ayudar a nuestra nueva clase de Escuela Media (Middle School) a unirse como equipo. Para liderar este trabajo, nos asociamos con Arapacha, una organización especializada en trabajo en equipo, colaboración y resolución positiva de problemas.
A lo largo de ambos días, los estudiantes rotaron por una serie de desafíos prácticos de Arapacha que les exigieron comunicarse con claridad, escucharse mutuamente y resolver problemas juntos. El segundo día se centró en la resolución de problemas y el liderazgo, brindando a los estudiantes la oportunidad de dar un paso al frente y apoyar a sus compañeros. Entre actividad y actividad, compartieron comidas y tiempo libre como nivel, construyendo la amistad y la confianza que los acompañarán durante todo el año. Los profesores, consejeros y staff los acompañaron en todo momento, y los estudiantes regresaron al ASA con un sentido más fuerte de lo que significa formar parte del 6º grado.
