Asa’s Elementary Computer Lab serves students from k4 through 5th grade. It is equipped with 26 desktop computers, a plasma, and a  laser  printer. The technology program is an exciting, enriching addition to the elementary curriculum. We try to integrate technology in the appropriate manner into the regular classroom subject areas. While the technology department has its own goals and objectives, we teach those in an integrated manner, rather than as a separate "computer" program. Computer skills are taught in conjunction with classroom assignments so that students are using the tool and skills to produce pieces that show their learning in Math, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies. The NETS (National Educational Technology Standards) are used as the basis for all curriculum planning and teaching. Keyboarding, word processing, multimedia presentation, spreadsheet, Internet and knowledge of computer equipment and function are reinforced throughout all the elementary grades.
