At ASA, we believe in recognizing academic and personal progress. The Student of the Month Award is one of many ways in which we celebrate student successes. Each month, one student is selected for each grade monthly as Student of the Month from each of the grades 7 through 12. Being chosen for this honor encourages exemplary performance and strives to promote excellence throughout the student body. The criteria for the selection of Student of the Month are as follows: Students shall: . treat all ASA community members with respect . protect personal, student, and community property through practicing integrity, cleanliness and environmental awareness. . follow the rules of good conduct at all times. . strive to achieve academic excellence . maintain academic honesty. . be responsible for self and the community at large. . practice the habit of good attendance with no unexcused tardies. . strive to go above and beyond teacher expectations . be an outstanding member of the ASA student body . not have any Honor Code Violations during the month when they are nominated . not have any Disciplinary Actions given during the month . not have any Fs Students meeting these guidelines are nominated by the secondary faculty (respective for Middle School and High School faculties ). These faculties then vote to select the Student of the Month. The recipients will be given a certificate and acknowledged during the Town Meeting by the Secondary Principal. In addition, each student will be treated to a Student of the Month Luncheon with their proper grade level (for example: Middle School or High School) with the Director General, Secondary Principal and the respective grade level School Counselor. ASA faculty constantly strives to acknowledge and celebrate students’ efforts at achieving our educational goal of excellence. At the end of an academic year, there are three types of awards given to students who have excelled in our programs: Awarded to a student who strives to achieve academic excellence in your subject; maintains academic honesty; shows outstanding contribution to class discussion and activities; and strives to go above and beyond teacher expectations. Teachers are asked to submit their nominations - one per grade level. These faculties meet to discuss nominations and select students for each subject and grade. Care is taken to select different students to avoid monopolization of awards and to ensure recognition of as many students as possible. The recipients will be given a medal and acknowledged by their Teachers during the last Honor Roll Assembly of the Year. Awarded to students who have been listed on 3 or 4 Principal’s Honor Roll Awards throughout the academic year. The Guidance Office provides a list of the eligible students. Awarded to students who demonstrated outstanding effort and improvement in academic achievement across all subjects per grade level. This includes students who are/were on Probation. Students meeting these guidelines are nominated by the Secondary Faculty (respective for Middle School and High School faculties).
