Middle School
The Middle School is comprised of 6th, 7th and 8th grades, each with three sections and a class size of seventeen (17) students per section. The Middle School students have their classes in their own divisional facility that includes a separate computer lab. There are approximately 151 students in the Middle School. These students come from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds. Many of have been at ASA throughout their educational experience, while others have recently arrived from International and American Schools around the world.
The Middle School years are recognized as an important time when students develop their self image and hone their attitudes towards learning. Therefore, we expose our students to a wide variety of subjects and activities. The goal of the Middle School Team is to create learning experiences that will further students' social and moral development while providing academic excellence. Relationship building plays a large role in this process.
Each year students take required academic courses in Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, Castellano, Estudios Sociales, and Guarani. The school also offers elective courses in Physical Education, Music, Art and weekly Advisory meetings. Middle School students participate in "Classroom Without Walls" experiential education trips designed to help students actively utilize the skills that they have attained in the classroom. All Middle School students also participate in a structured Community Service program that includes in and out of school service activities. Middle School students can also participate in Student Council and a competitive sports program. For students new to Paraguay, we offer a program that includes Home Country Culture and Spanish as a Second Language.
