High School

There are approximately 180 students in High School. Every year several students from other schools in Asunción and from International and American Schools around the world transfer to ASA. These students join our already strong and vibrant body of students that have been at ASA throughout their educational experience.

The High School is comprised of 9th - 12th grades with extensive course offerings that include annual required courses in: English, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, Castellano, Estudios Sociales, Guaraní, and Physical Education. Some of our unique required course offerings include: Paraguayan Current Affairs, Philosophy, Origins of Thought, Comunicacion, Psychology, Environmental Science and Ciencias (a university preparatory course in Spanish). Students also select from Advance Placement courses on our campus that include: AP Spanish Literature, AP Spanish Language, AP US History, AP European History, AP Economy, AP Statistics, AP Calculus, AP Psychology, AP English Literature, AP English Language, AP Studio Art, and AP Comparative Government. Elective courses include Journalism, French, Portuguese, Chamber Choir, Orchestra, Concert band, Cooperative Games, Computer Digital Imaging, Website Design, and Yearbook. ASA is proud to be the only school in Paraguay to offer the Virtual High School (VHS) program. High School Students also participate in structured Community Service and Advisory programs that includes in and out of school service activities.

There is an extensive extracurricular activities program. Students can participate in Model United Nations (MUN), Knowledge Bowl, Jazz Band, Operation Smile, National Honor Society, and Student Council. In addition, more than half of high school students are members of at least one of our soccer, basketball, or volleyball teams.
